Suicide Race on Sunday, August 14



I CAN’T SEE—At least two of the riders who were in front were doing okay until they entered the Okanogan River and their horses lost their balance!





ONE, TWO, THREE—At about the middle of the Okanogan River (L to R) Abe Grunlose, Jonathan Abrahamson, and Tony Marchand began their battle for 1st place.


EXACT ORDER—Almost out of the river these three riders continued their battle for 1st place. (L to R) /#14 Abe Grunlose aboard Party Boy took 1st place; #4 Jonathon Abrahamson on The Rock took 2nd; and in 3rd place was #8 Tony Marchand on Skookum!


Omak Stampede Grand Parade held on Sunday, Aug. 14


TIED FOR 2ND PLACE—The Colville Logging Truck carrying a load of Ponderosa Pine tied for 2nd place in the “Organizations” category. Kevin Allen was the driver and his passenger was Ronnie Brudevold.


CIPV/CIPP—Jeff Van Brunt was driving the Colville Indian Power & Veneer Lumber Truck. Jeff is the Quality Control Manager at CIPV, and his passenger was John Rodgers, who is a Lay-up Supervisor. Behind them each load contains 66 plywood sheets, which measure 1/2" x 4' x 8'. In the rear is Gabriel Lazard sitting on a strapped load of fir and larch measuring 2" x 6" x 16'. Gabriel works in the Tally Department at CIPP, and although you can’t see her, Gabriel’s niece Alissa Struckman is sitting next to her!

HELPED TAKE 1ST PLACE—The Omak Stampede Parade of Flags took 1st place in the “Mounted Horse Teams” category. (Middle) Celia Paul is carrying the Colville Indian Power & Veneer Flag. She is a Grader at CIPV.
