Thanks for Your Support

I went to Phoenix, Arizona on June 20 through June 25, 2005 for the NABI basketball tournament (Native American Basketball Invitational). I would like to thank my Uncle Brett Marchand, my grandpa John Signor, my Uncle and Aunt Robbie and Jolene Seymour, Fawn Swan, Michelle Sirois, and Debbie Condon. They helped with the cost on going down there on such short notice.

Also Jeff Brisbois for driving me to Oregon so I could get in with the team and also keeping me in contact with the team. I played with the Oregon Native. They were all from Warm Spring, Oregon. I was the only Washington player on the team. We lasted until Friday and there were only 5 teams left after us. I had a lot of fun and it was an experience of a lifetime.

I would also like to say thanks to my Grandma Jean Seymour. She has always supported me emotionally and she was a big help in that way. Also my mom, Alana Seymour, my dad Benny Marchand, and my brothers, Bryson and Tre Marchand. They helped me in many ways too. They were there for me cheering me on the whole way.

So, thanks to everyone that was back home cheering me on and everyone else who helped me financially. I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Thanks for everything, I really appreciate it and I’m never going to forget this experience.

Amanda Marchand

The Nespelem Indian Rodeo Association would like to thank all the award sponsors and volunteers who donated money and time to make this year’s rodeo and mudwrestling events a great success. The weather was nice and we had about 146 rodeo contestants who participated from Canada, Washington, Oregon & Idaho. It was nice to visit with old and new friends.
Thank you, Joe Peone Logging, for donating the water truck, BIA for the tractor, and Parks & Rec for the picnic tables and garbage cans.
A special thank you to our gate admission helpers, Kelly Jerred, Sharon Covington, and Shannon Boyd; our cook shack helpers Diana Holland, Vicky Circle, Kathy Desautel, and Joanne Leith; our roping chute help Duffy Sammaripa, Deb Knight, Arthur Dick, Wayne Boyd, and Kevin Carden; our roping catch pen helper Billy Yoder; our bucking chute help The Nespelem Wild Bunch; our arena helpers Jerry Sam, Steve Palmer, Chick Jackson, Dave Best, Jr. Leith, Tom Best; our rodeo office.
Darnell Sam, you did a great job with the Horse Races. Billie Leith, Sharon Covington, Winfred Pakootas, Tony Ankney, Ralph Moses, Larry Covington & Luther Leith, you guys also did a good job with the famous mudwrestling & tug-o-war events. Everyone had fun.
And to the rodeo committee, Joanne Leith, Joan Wak Wak, Wes Cleveland, Arthur Dick, Darnell Sam, Steve & Dorothy Palmer, keep up the good work, another good rodeo.
