JOE
& JOHN—When the 2004-2005 Colville Business Council adjourned
for good on Thursday morning, July 14, there were people
present who gave gifts, and in their own words said farewell
to Joe Pakootas and John Stensgar, who lost their seats on the
Business Council. (L to R) Joe greets Shirley Michel
Seymour...her son, Virgil Seymour won a seat on the Council
(Position #2, Inchelium District). Just behind Joe’s right
shoulder is John Stensgar.
THE
WINNER IS?—The Colville Tribes’ Executive Director, Martin
Bohl, was the Acting Chairman during the Reorganization of the
2005-2006 Business Council. The first three items on the
Agenda was the nomination for the three positions on the
Executive Committee...and afterwards the choosing of a
Chairperson for each of the nine Committees. Assisting Martin
was Bernie Michel Samuels, the Council’s Administrative
Assistant. Recorded were the names of the people who nominated
a person for the Executive Committee, and the Committee
Chairpersons....white slips of paper were presented to each
Councilperson so they could write down the name of the person
they voted for...Martin would announce the names of each
person on the white slip...and Bernie recorded the
