In Memory of “Ee-mi-welott”

I would like to express my gratitude to my family, relatives and friends who helped with the funeral services for my daughter, Stephanie Yvonne Waters.

Stephanie was my oldest child. She was a beautiful person who brought two wonderful children into this world, Isiah and Takiah Lamebull. Stephanie lived in Nespelem, Wapato, Harrah, Toppenish, WA, Elmo, Montana and Salem, Oregon.

She went home to be buried next to the Waters family members at the Chief Joseph Cemetery in Nespelem, WA. Special thanks to the Drummers and Cooks of the Wapato Longhouse and Nez Perce Longhouse in Nespelem.

I know her journey to meet the creator was good, with all your good words, prayers, singing and dancing. Also, thank you Father for the Rosary Service. Thanks to the Iukes Family for their words and songs. All her close friends and Chemawa Class of 1988, I know you’ll miss her, remember her smile and the good times you shared. I know she’d want you to dance like nobody’s watching.

May the Great Spirit Watch Over You! Always, Vera Hernandez

Thank You from My Family

I am writing this to express my appreciation for all of the love and support that was witnessed at the funeral of our little loved one, Matthew Lee Boyd, Jr.

It was a total shock and is still unbelievable. I never imagined that such a tragedy could happen so suddenly. It is totally devastating!

When I see little children wherever I go, I think of my grandson, baby Matt, and hope they will be free from harm and be happy.

I could not speak at the funeral for fear of breaking down, therefore I am taking this opportunity to thank everybody!

Thank you to the drummers, the cooks, the dancers and the speakers. The young people were spoke about often, for that I am grateful. Thanks especially to Albert Andrews and Uncle Soy Redthunder for the many wise words.

We will miss memories that would have been, but we will always remember the ones we have.

Sincerely with love,
Luanna M. Francis

To all of you that helped us with
our mother Shirley Seymour

We thank each and every one of you for all your visits, prayers, kind words, food, love, support, cards, and flowers during our time of need and loss of our mother Shirley Seymour.

We were blessed with a couple of weeks we got to spend with Mom before her passing. During this time we had many family and friends stop by and help us in many ways. We’re all very grateful and will never forget you for all that you have done.

Our mother was such a loving, kind, and beautiful person throughout our lives. It was a comfort to see all of you there knowing that she touched your lives as well.

A special thanks to Aunt Nancy and the cooks, Chrissy Shaffer and Jenny for the songs, Loren Swan for playing the flute, Tina Whelshula and family for drumming and Rio for helping us with our traditions. Also Mona, Gloria and Melvin K. and any other Inchelium Community Center staff who helped out with mom’s services.

The holiday season is fast approaching. Please take time to appreciate your family and friends and count your blessings. Say hello, tell them you love them, and give your hugs and kisses to all that you care about. No one is guaranteed a tomorrow.

Once again, we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that every one of you has done to help us with the loss of our mother Shirley Seymour.

Edith Elisabeth Spurlock Fritz

Edith Elisabeth Spurlock Fritz, 82, of Omak, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday October 28, 2005. She was at the Mid-Valley Hospital.

Edith was born May 19, 1923 in Omak to Charles Hendrex and Lucy May (Holt) Picard. Her Indian name was “Little Moon Flower”.

Her father Charles passed away when she was 8 months of age. In 1925, her mother Lucy married Clyde W. Hudnall and he raised her as his own. She and “Dad” would hop in the old family pick-up truck and go hunting. He’d ask her, “who travels this road, Bubs?” and she’d reply, “Us and the coyotes”.

In 1937 she met her future husband Hoye Arlis “Pete” Spurlock and they were married August 8, 1938. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1988. They had one daughter, Judith Marie.

Edith had many loves – hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, raising flowers and gardening as well as playing her guitar, music and singing at Church. But her very favorite thing to do was read her Bible.

She and Pete retired in 1978, having worked for Al O’Del for several years.

On May 17, 1991, Edith married Willard C. Fritz of Tunk Valley where they lived for a few years before returning to Omak. In September of 1991, they flew to Germany to visit his daughter Norah, her husband Skip and their daughters Jessie and Chelsea Couch.

Edith is survived by her husband, Willard of Okanogan, daughter, Judith and Bruce Hahn of Omak, step children, Norah and Skip Couch of Coppers Cove, Texas, Remi and Julie Fritz of Talent, Oregon and Charles Fritz of Desautel, Washington; grandchildren Jeff and Rhonda Harris of Omak, WA; Monty and Cindy Harris of Moore, OK; Shelly and LeRoy Houtz and Delitha Hahn of Omak, WA., Tricia and Tim Dezellem of Vancouver, WA, Chelsea and Richard Schmalzrid of Butte, MT and Jessie Couch of Coppers Cove, TX, Dwight Lady Fritz of Wenatchee, WA and Charlie Marie and Tim Fritz of Talent, OR. Ten great-grandchildren: Lauren, Stefanie, Jerromey, Cassie, Jessica, Christopher, Cody, Jaydn, Jeffery, Maggie and one great-great-grandson, Sean. She was very proud of all the grandchildren.

Also surviving her sister, Violet and Clyde Metzger of Lewiston, ID; her brother Norman and Helen Hudnall of Electric City, WA and a special niece and nephew Wilma and L.C. Ayers of Peshastin, WA; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Elmer, sister Leona, step father, her first husband and a very special sister-in-law, Hazel Spurlock Dudgeon.

Services were held at the Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel in Okanogan on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating. Interment followed at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation was Thursday and Friday at the Chapel. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
