PASCHAL SHERMAN INDIAN
SCHOOL
Federal Recognition for Academic Success at Paschal Sherman
Indian School
The administration at Paschal Sherman is pleased to announce
it’s second year of AYP which stands for Adequate Yearly
Progress. This is basically a report card for all schools to
show that the students are learning and showing academic
growth. Many schools in the state and the Bureau of Indian
Affairs have not been successful in showing this growth in
their entire school. Paschal Sherman has shown this growth for
the past three years.
Over the past several years, Paschal Sherman has been aligning
it’s curriculum to the state standards. We have adopted a new
Reading Program called Success For All as well as the Houghton
Mifflin Mathematic Series. We credit our success to these
quality programs and the hard working staff that have
implemented them.
This fall we have seen several new faces at our school. On
September 13th we had our Open House which was well attended
by the community. Several people enjoyed the new facilities as
well as a delicious meal cooked by our staff.
The fall sports are under way at Paschal Sherman. We are
excited to be using our new gym for basketball and our new
football field. We invite you to come and support our teams
while enjoying our beautiful campus.

Thank you Inchelium
Community and Others:
My name is Deon Pakootas and the reason for this letter is to
thank all the people who have touched my family’s lives.
I am sitting here crying because I am thinking on where to
start and who to thank for my brother’s recovery. As of right
now, my brother is still in rehab. His release date is Sept.
29th, even though he has had neck surgery.
The first person I would like to thank is God for not taking
my brother. I am so glad and thankful that he is still here.
Even though he will be paralyzed from the waist down, at least
he is here. He is in good spirits and is learning everything
that needs to be learned. The second person I would like to
thank is my brother, Francis. I am very happy that you are
here and getting better. Keep up the hard work and learning
you are doing. There may be times you want to quit, but don’t
give up. We love you VERY much. We all know how strong you
are. The third person I would like to thank is my DAD. He has
been there since this all happened. Never leaving my brother’s
side unless he has to. You don’t know how much I thank you for
sticking with Francis. It has been a battle with ups and
downs. I see you as One of a Kind. My dad doesn’t leave Fran
very much. He sleeps right by my brother, eats right by him,
and learns everything with him. I guess what I am trying to
say is we don’t know where Francis would be without you. His
right hand man.
Now I would like to thank Lourie for all the Fridays she’s
been taking off of work to go and see my brother. To let
everyone know this is Francis’ aunt who helped raise him. You
are the most wonderful Aunt a person could have. In my eyes
you are a Very strong person and I admire that. You have given
to Francis a whole bunch. Not only support but love to all of
us. I am glad that you take time to see my brother knowing
what you are going through already.
Ben Marchand has a heart of gold. Donating his time and effort
to fix my dad’s house. From painting to wood work. You have
done a lot. I don’t know if anyone asked you to do this or
not, but I am very thankful to you for a good job. I went and
checked my dad’s house out just the other day and when I got
there, there was my Uncle Fatso, Randy Finley and Rodney
Signor. You guys are doing a good job. Keep it up.
To the people who helped do fundraising in Inchelium. I thank
you for the time and support you have given my dad and
brother. The money will be used in a good way. I would also
like thank ALL of FRAN’S FRIENDS who have gone to see him. You
keep his spirits up and running. He enjoys all of your company
and laughter. There is one more person I would like to bring
up before I go and that is Brandon. Even though you can’t be
there for Francis physically, you are there with your heart.
If I forgot anyone, sorry. You are appreciated too.
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL,
Deon Pakootas and Family
